The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close part of I-540 as well as Wake Forest Road.
Crews will block off two of three lanes of I-540 West between U.S. 64 Business and Buffalo Road beginning Friday at 7 p.m. until 6 a.m., Monday, Aug. 11.
The closure on this section of I-540 West is necessary for the contractor to complete punch list items for the I-540 project. NCDOT will be scheduling additional closures on I-540 to complete remaining work on the project.
Crews will also temporarily close one lane on Wake Forest Road from the I-440 Interchange to Six Forks Road beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, until 6 a.m. on Monday.
The closure is part of the ongoing project to add a lane in both directions on Wake Forest Road, along with new signals, signs and roadway lighting at the I-440 Interchange and widening the on-ramps from Wake Forest Road to the I-440 inner and outer beltline.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes.
